When buying a new or CPO Volkswagen vehicle, we've even found that getting a portion of a warranty that is already in effect is a good thing. These warranties will likely cover issues that may occur in the first 3 to 5 years of the vehicle's life.

That way, if a failure should occur, the policy should cover most issues on the vehicle. There's a possible bonus: If the time occurs where you wish to sell a vehicle with time remaining on the warranty, you can use it to add value to your vehicle.

Volkswagen Vehicle Service Protection: Unexpected Expenses Won't Know What Hit Them

Getting hit with an unanticipated repair is never fun. That's why Volkswagen offers the Vehicle Service Protection Plan. It's a warranty that picks up where the VW factory warranty ends. The plan can be tailor-made for your wants and needs and includes coverage options for repairs that include parts and labor for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

There are a variety of benefits to buying the Volkswagen Vehicle Service Protection Plan. They include the following:

• Three available plans allow you to purchase the plan that works best for you.
• Plans include genuine Volkswagen Parts and service for your vehicle.
• Service is available at any Volkswagen dealership nationwide.
• 24-hour roadside assistance including battery service, flat tire and fuel delivery.
• Rental car reimbursement coverage is available up to $35 per day.

Both factory and extended warranties are tied to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your vehicle and transfer with the car until the warranty has expired. So if you buy a vehicle with an active factory warranty, it remains intact until the end of the original warranty period. Remember, though, that the active date of the warranty is the actual purchase date of the car by the original buyer, not the model year of the car.

In the case of the Volkswagen Vehicle Service Protection plan, it is available for up to 10 years and 150,000 miles. It runs concurrently with the VW People First factory warranty of 4 years / 50,000 miles, meaning that it kicks in at the end of the fourth year and carries on until your vehicle has achieved 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Transferable Coverage: Step Right Up!

One of the bonuses of the Volkswagen Vehicle Service Protection plan is that it can be transferred to a new owner for a $50 fee, as long as the vehicle is sold to a private individual. Selling or trading the vehicle to a dealership will void the coverage. It is also cancelable at any time. After 30 days, cancellations are subject to a $50 fee.

Volkswagwen CPO Vehicle Service Protection:

Volkswagen offers an available CPO Vehicle Service Protection plan that is part of its Certified Pre-owned program. With it, buyers enjoy ten years / 150,000 miles of coverage for vehicles that have undergone certification by program administrators at Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando. Other valuable features include roadside assistance, towing, rental car reimbursement and trip interruption if needed.

Volkswagen offers three CPO plans to meet your specific needs. The Powertrain plan offers coverage of your engine, transmission, drive axle and hybrid/electric system. The Gold plan covers all of the above and adds climate control, shocks, front/rear suspension, fuel system and electrical systems. Finally, the top of the line Platinum plan takes all previous coverage and adds the steering system, brakes, CV Boots, Navigation, Audio and other High-Tech features to the plan.

Once you have subscribed to one of these three plans, you will enjoy benefits, including Genuine VW parts and service for your vehicle. In addition to Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando Service Department, service can be had at all participating VW dealerships, or other Volkswagen authorized repair facilities. It's the perfect way to ease your mind during those times you are traveling for business or pleasure. A deductible of $50 applies per visit.

In addition to those conveniences, you and your vehicle will receive 24-hour roadside assistance with enhanced benefits, including flat tire assistance, battery service, fuel or fluid delivery, and lockout assistance up to $100 per occurrence.

The Volkswagen Drive Easy Program and CPO Vehicle Protection Program also offering a towing reimbursement benefit of up to $100 to your nearest Volkswagen dealer or authorized service facility. Another is rental car reimbursement up to $35 per day for up to ten days if required. Finally, the plan offers Trip Interruption coverage up to $200 per day for a total of five days with a benefit limitation of $1000.

Of course, there are exclusions to every type of warranty program and this program is no different. These would include mechanical breakdowns that are already covered by the Volkswagen factory warranty.

Mechanical breakdowns caused by accident, collision, vandalism or weather-related conditions are also excluded because, in most cases, they will be covered by your vehicle's insurance carrier.

Finally, there's the exclusion due to lack of maintenance or pre-existing conditions, meaning that if the engine seizes due to not having the oil changed for over three years, then that's on you. But we know you're not THAT person!
